"Paradiesgärten" - A Final Reflection

In the studio, individual paintings play their role in adding to the overall mess. They lean against walls, against each other or hang crookedly too close to others.

For the first time I see a whole body of my work up on white gallery walls. Here, each painting confidently takes up precious wall space. Pieces that had shyly glanced at each other across a busy studio, now hang opposite each other, in conversation, rhyming but each a strong individual.

Seeing them like this deepens my understanding of the work. It acts as an invitation, even a dare, to visualize your own version of paradise. Leaving it open to the viewer whether paradise is a place that can be reached or that is found along the journey of life itself. The garden continues to serve as a motif and offers a very obvious starting point for conversations. I so cherished the conversations with show visitors about gardens they had visited or grown, and what gardens mean to us.

My first solo show ‘Paradiesgärten’ is over. Some paintings are on their way to new owners, some are waiting in my new studio to be shown again. Whilst this experience comes to an end, I feel like my journey as an artist is only just beginning.

Thank you, Frankfurter Künstlerclub for giving me the opportunity to show at this incredible location!
